Another travel day, but an easy one.  Easy bus pickup location.  Good roads surprisingly.  And air conditioning that actually worked.  However, my attempt to thwart the system backfired because I wore a t-shirt and shorts today on the bus...and froze.

Siem Reap is the most visited town in Cambodia because it is just a few kilometers south of what some would argue was a world wonder: Angkor Wat.  Because of this, the city is not like the rest of Cambodia at all.  It was a shock to ride into town and see all these palatial hotels and grand shops.  The roads were large and there were traffic lights even though there wasn't near as much traffic as Phnom Penh.  The streets were much cleaner.  The entire city is to cater to tourists.  That is all that is here.  All ages and nationalities (although many Asians---really see the influx of the rising Chinese and Koreans).  It was all very odd to me...this tourist 'resort' laden town.  I'm looking around for the food stalls and dirty trash flapping at my feet.  Nope, all swept away...and there were actually trash bins in sight!  Very interesting contrast after having been elsewhere in the country.

Things I miss:  Dr. Pepper.  Cold Dr. Pepper.  Any really cold drink.  Ice is sometimes hard to come by apparently and electricity is expensive, so ice cold drinks are not always easy to find.  A bathtub.  A pillow that isn't a rock.  Fast internet.  Dust caked on my toes.

Things I'll miss from Cambodia:  Cheap massages, cheap food, cheap everything lol.  The bustle of the towns.  The weather.  The people--there is no fear here when someone approaches you like in the States.  The fruit shakes.
