Welp, I've gone and done what I set out to do.  I've acquired a beach bungalow replete with hammock and mosquito netting over the bed with the sound of the crashing waves to lull me to sleep (oh and the generator until midnight since there isn't any electricity on the entire island).   Nothing like a little lack of electricity, major amenities, and a 2 1/2 hour boat ride to deter the masses.
I've escaped the sleeze of Sihanoukville's popular beach and landed at Koh Rong, and island off the coast with amazingly beautiful beaches and much more solitude.  I haven't decided if I'm moving on to the next island of Koh Rong Samlaom, which is even more isolated and quiet.  The expense may just be too much.  This bugalow tonight is a whopping $25 plus food is still ringing in at $3-4 for an entree (which doesn't include drinks).
Besides the absolute hedonistic lounging and abundance of amazing inertia, I have little to report from here.  However, I did manage to learn something that has been nagging at me.....what the hell the sink sprayer on the wall of the bathrooms is for??!?!  Turns out, it is to spray your junk once you've used the bathroom.  I learned this from a German expat who assured me that if I 'put it deep enough' (I think he meant deep enough in the bowl...) then I wouldn't shower the entire bathroom and myself with water.  I told him I would try it and was worried it would tickle.  Well, it didn't tickle, it was just damn cold!   I didn't spray the bathroom either, but I was left wondering what to do next about the now completely wet I simply pull up trou and call it good or do I dry myself somehow??   These questions just aren't so easy to figure out.   For those of you wondering why I don't just use toilet paper, I describe for you a toilet that does not flush.  There is no handle.  It is gravity fed with a 1 inch line leaving it.  There is a bucket of water in the bathrooms with a bowl in it that you fill and use to 'flush' the toilet.  Toilet paper just doesn't go down very easily in those 1 in. lines.  And, for those wondering how my personal digestive system is holding up, I am happy to report that things are going  quite well (I hope I did not jinx myself with that boastful proclamation of sound bowel health).  :)

As a note, the internet is so intermittent and slow that I have given up on picture uploads...I will add more when I get to a better internet connection.

It looks like you are getting along quite nicely out there. Quite the switch in weather from the icy cold environment you have been enduring for 5+ years. That must be nice! I hope you are not getting bitten by too many mosquitos though. Malaria is not what you want to come back with. Is your Canadian travel buddy still with you, or are you flying solo these days?

You can have your dirty streets and masses of people, but no amenities beach bungalow? Now I am jealous.

Holy crap. How could you ever leave? The pics from this entry blow away your other stops altogether. These islands and day trips sound like they were exactly what you were looking for when you thought up this trip. I hope you're taking video, too.

Yes yes, it is almost surreal the beauty. Florida has beautiful beaches as well, but the developments completely change the dynamics. I mean, lone bulbs hanging in fishing baskets with generators the only power source really make for a rustic chilled out environment.
I found several Westerners who had stopped over and haven't left yet...

At Matt--only one video so far. Basically I am a dumb-dumb and forgot that my camera had vid capability.
