Show trip route
After driving a couple of hours, we came to Maastricht, Netherlands, a very busy town with lots and lots of shopping. We arrived at our hotel- Galerie Hotel Dis (actually has an art gallery on the main floor combined with nice breakfast facilities and a neat studio on the second floor- in the shape of a pyramid).
There are a number of interesting buildings here and the one that really gets most attention is the bookstore near the center of the old town called Selexyz: it is in an abandoned Dominican Church! Another one has a water mill built into it- a bakery really!
After the mill we went for a tour went for a walk on the old city walls to an area near where there were many domesticated animals- I forgot to take my memory stick from my camera in my computer to take the male peacock strutting his stuff!!
I fine meal was had at the restaurant Petit Bonheur- very good Avocado stuffed with crayfish combined with a very nice filet steak.
Maastricht is a nice town and very good for all round enjoyment, shopping, dining and touring... Only problem here is their different 220 volt male plugs! The female part has some grooves that our male part doesn't have coinciding...
Today it is raining big time and we are off to Metz France- all of western Europe is wet by the looks of the weather reports on TV, oh well....
