Redmond, LA, Nadi, Auckland

The flight from Redmond to LA was a pleasant, just over 2 hour jump. Upon arriving and grabbing my big pack, I headed for Air Pacific, only to get into terminal 2 and learn that Air Pacific doesn't fly on monday. So, over to terminal 4 to find Air New Zealand I went hiking. Only had to wait for a little bit, then off to cross the international dateline we were. Arrived almost 12 hours later in the wee hours of the morning in Nadi, having totally skipped the 4th, first time I've ever lost a day like that. Crazy. Only had a couple hours in Fiji, slept some on a bench.
Nadi to Auckland was 3 hours or so, caught a cab into the city from the airport, daunted by the rapidly rising meter, I will not take a taxi from the Auckland airport again. The cost of that ride was representative of food and alcohol prices here in general, a lot higher than I was expecting. So, my holiday before beginning work isn't going to be so easily budgeted as I had hoped. Whatever. Going to make the most of the oportunities.
