Oh man, Tamara prepped a traditional Xmas dinner and we invited a gal we met from Montreal, in addition to the 2 hostesses at the reception area in our Apartment. One of the ladies brought her daughter. So these ladies have never had turkey, nor stuffing, so when they grabbed their dinner (buffet style) they took just a little bit. When they went back for seconds we all had big smiles on our faces, especially Tamara. Sherry & I bought little gifts for everybody to open - it was an awesome night.
Ended up hanging out at the apartment and we're, once again, asked to shut the eff up by a different German tourist family. Not once, but about 4 times. The last one came from some guy who essentially grumbled something completely uncomprehensible and Tracy actually thought it was some animal in the bushes!! OMG - talk about laughing again and again.
Decided to head out to a local bar to give the neighbours some peace and quiet. Partied till the wee hours and enjoyed a sleep in the next day.
New Years Eve - woooohooooo!!!  Erik & Somchai prepared a meal unlike no other. They had 8 different Thai dishes and each one was amazing. One of the best meals I've ever had. We had made arrangements for a couple boxes of beer (24's) and a styrofoam cooler so we could head down to the beach to celebrate NYEve. What a riot. Ended up buying phone cards and phoning everybody in Canada once the midnight hour struck. We were on the phone with different folks for about 3 hours!!! It's cheap when you buy cards in Thailand. Only .10/minute, so we needed to keep going back for more phone cards and beer from the 7 eleven (I'm not kidding you)!
Ended up lighting lanterns (tradition) and partied until about 4:30 in the morning. Decided we were are royally loaded so time to get some sleep. Next day was BRUTAL with everybody having severe hangovers.
The whole time up to New Year's the Tourism Authority of Thailand put on free music shows with local beer, food and entertainment. The beer & food was cheap and so very tastey. Had to check out the new local Phuket lager which was very good! The beach dogs seemed to find us there - the same ones found us anytime we were anywhere near the beach (which was a lot).
Had a lovely last week enjoying the place - just awesome and can't wait to go back!!
