OK, we are very excited this morning cause we're going to Disneyworld - well, Magic Kingdom - yeehaw. Had some breaky, then grabbed the shuttle bus to the property. Off on a ferry and in we went. Had some tips from folks and from researching. I tell you, Sherry and I were so damn lucky this day, we just couldn't get over it!
We didn't wait for more than 15 minutes for ANY of the rides. Took advantage of the fast pass for Space Mountain twice. We went early, taking the 10:00am bus. Would have left a bit earlier, but we spent time purchasing tickets and getting info from the info desk on the main floor. There were quite a few people, but the crowds weren't as we expected.
We did just about every ride and attraction, even some of the kids rides. One of the kids rides, the line was too long for our liking, so we headed back where we came from and told the lady at the entrance we were too 'scared' to go on it - well, she had a grand chuckle over that.
OK, now I have to share this cause it's just too cute and funny really. We're going through 'It's a Small World' and I think I'm hearing someone singing along. So, lo and behold, I look over and there's Sherry singing along looking all around. I couldn't help but chuckle, only to discover a few minutes later, I'm doing the same damn thing! You just turn into a kid at this place - it's great for the soul.
We ended up heading back around 7:30, having had a full day and taking in all the rides. We ended up chatting with this couple (who was on the same bus getting to the Magic Kingdom) from New Mexico, but now live in Las Vegas. They were so kind. She had MS so was in an electric scooter and he was using a cane (very, very big fella). He was Hispanic and she was Caucasian. They were so friendly and we engaged in great discussions.
Turns out Joe was the main volunteer campaign coordinator for Barack Obama for the entire state of New Mexico. He's going to be attending the inauguration. What a privilege to have that opportunity and the opportunity to be a part of the whole change in America!!! We all learned much from each other and ended up giving each other big hugs when we hit our stop back at the hotel (they were staying at a different one).
You know, we're getting a very different impression of the America people and are so grateful for that. We've experienced kind people waaaay more often than not. Even the staff at the hotel are really nice. This election has done more than we can imagine, or most people realize. Awesome!!!
Decided we would hit Planet Hollywood for dinner this evening, so hopped in the car and headed out. Well first turn, right off the back, was incorrect, so we went for a bit of a tour! No big deal, stopped and asked for directions and were eventually on our way. Now we know our way around so much more - so it turned out to be a good thing.
We had great service, a good meal, and tried a Clockwork Orange cocktail (nummy). Sherry had a miller light draft and it was also good. I tried one more cocktail after that and it was also nummmmmy. We were both a bit tired after walking all day, so thought we might hit up a movie, but there wasn't anything interesting play so we headed back to the room. We were going to watch a movie in the room to just wind down, but again, nothing interesting worth watching. We did some research on Epcot instead. We poured ourselves an evening beverage and didn't even finish it - too tired. Crashed in no time.
