Was excited to finally be heading to Phuket area of Thailand. Flight was quick and drive from the airport to Pen Siri House was fast! Checked in, love my room but pretty tired and trying to adjust to the time difference....!! Room was quiet and the guest house was filled (not many rooms, mind you) with budget travellers.

It was a hot one out there so got my bearings and located a fruit vendor to load up with dinner. Beach wasn't far away at all - woohoo!

Wasn't able to get a hold of anyone from Soi Dog via e-mail so had no idea if I'd be starting the next day...but alas there were two other volunteers staying there that had arranged for pickup at 8:30am. The owner (Pen) knocked on my door the next morning to let me know, so I packed up a day bag in under a minute I'm sure and hoped into the car.

Introduced ourselves, Glen and Isabelle from Sweden. Poon from Soi Dog. I was Very excited this morning and even brought a couple bottles of water knowing it was going to be a flipping hot day.

I'll do up a separate entry just on Soi Dog alone!!

After returning from Soi Dog a shower was in order. I was full of slobber, pee and poo. Hot water on demand and the showers here are not stand alone - they are part of the open washroom concept. The higher end places would be like what folks are accustomed to. Not these awesome lower end places!!

Was rough having dinner on the beach every night. The pictures can attest to what a beautiful sight it is. Very postcard perfect. There is just so much beauty on this planet. Our Country is very pretty, but other places are just breathtaking really.

Had to walk in the Andaman Sea and experience the warmth of this sea...the beach wasn't that busy and it was partially cloudy which was a very good thing considering I had no base to start with. I was the one glowing in the dark lol.

Each night I took a walk down to the beach and had dinner and 1-2 cocktails with dinner, depending on the happy hour special. Definitely a light weight cause after 2 I could 'feeeeel it'. Whoa, times have definitely changed.

The weekend arrived and no work, so beach time it was...fully caked in SPF 60. Hah, that should do it...plus under an embrella and partial clouds. But also, nooooooo I had obviously missed a spot or two, or the bathing suit rode up further than where my sunscreen was....alrighty, time to buy some aloe and might as well get another foot massage while I'm at it cause it's going to be a little more sensitive over the next few days...that and walking all the dogs over the past three days equals well deserved foot massage.

Finished my book over the weekend on the beach and met some folks from all over the place. Lots of families in this area and the Thai families come out on Sundays. Two more days a Soi, then onto Patong.
