What I did
Merv Hardie Ferry

Started off early and was thankful there wasn't a lot of snow on the highway. Saw a fair amount of road kill leading up to the ferry crossing at Providence. Was dusk out but managed to make out the sillouettes of several bison hunkered down in the snow along side the highway. Man oh man, was happy they were resting and not wandering...would have been tough to see em.

Hit the ferry but it was across the river so had a small wait. Sun was rising under the new bridge and heaps of steam coming off what moving parts of the river were left. Ice flows coming down and more than half of the river was frozen over, likely not very thick yet.

The good ole Merv had to refuel so got to see her land on the Providence side for the last time. Didn't mind the extra half hour wait cause the rising sun had pink written all over it. Beautiful sunrise on the Mackenzie River. I could see the ice flows starting to build up around the ferry and knew it was going to take some work to get out.

Time to Board!!! The wait meant she was full for the voyage over....all 10 min's of it lol. Had to go back and forth a few times to break a path wide enough to turn and get going. You could hear the ice against the vessel. Took a bit of video footage, but it was damn cold, a mere -25C and add the wind chill on top of that - effin brrrrrrr, Fingers were numb after 50 seconds of videoing.

Rest of the trip went smoothly. Was a long day and took in everything around me. Lots of wildlife and about 6 Raven buffets along the way. Not sure what the road kill was, but all but one of them had fur.

Madge got me right to the hotel without issue. Grabbed a bite to eat, did a bit of research and then relaxed to the History channel for an hour....zzzzzzzzzz.
