What a short flight that was!! 1.5 hours went by in a blink. Immigration was, once again, easy to go through. Woohoo, more stamps!!
Ray, Vi and Jacob met us at the airport and had arranged for transportation. Nice to see Grace's folks again! They were excited to see us as well. The ride was quite short to the hotel. Checked in and, once again, we were upgrade. Holy Hi-So!!! Can't believe our room. Never stayed in anything like it before. A dining/sitting area, living room, business center, huge bedroom with king size bed and room for Colette's twin cot. The bathroom is also big and marble. Must admit, it beats the beach huts.
Learned the casino was closed for the holiday, but not a big deal - hah
First night we headed down the road for a bite to eat. Oh some new things to try, that's for sure. It was OK. Had better, but we're expecting that. Then we headed to 7-Eleven to grab a couple of beers/mix for the room. Don't want to pay 5-star hotel prices. Rather pay 23 pesos for a large bottle of water, compared to 150 for a small one in the hotel. That's the budget traveler coming out of us!!! Hung out and drank a couple crown royal and coke lights in Grace & Chris room, visited for a bit, then hit the sack nice and tired. That and Chris' twitching on the bed (asleep) was an indication it was a good time to leave.
Well, it's 3:00am again and yep, awake we are, but forced ourselves to stay in bed until at least 6:30. Had some coffee, then met downstairs at 8:30 for our adventure to a set of falls about 2 hours out (yeah, not with Manila traffic). Stopped for a bite to eat and starbucks coffee. Off we went through the super busy streets. Had a flat tire part of the way up, but our driver had her changed in no time
Can you say - traffic jams? 6 lanes, in a 4 lane highway. These drivers just go with the flow and there's no road rage (or every little anyway). North Americans should just shut the eff up when traveling on their roads cause they haven't experienced anything like it! Here's it's insane, but everyone accepts it and goes with the flow. Jeesh, we could learn a ton in tolerance. The pollution is pretty insane though, slightly worse than any major Canadian city, that's for sure.
Decided to go to the singing waters restaurant for a, what turned out to be, carnivorous meal. Oh, there was a bit of eggplant, so Colette volunteered to eat her vegetable. Following dinner we hopped in a jeepney and headed back to the hotel. Popped into the lounge with live singing and Ray ordered a bottle of wine. I headed to the room to TRY to grab a more than 2.5 hour sleep, so popped a sleeping pill. Yaaaaaay, slept for 6 hours, then stayed in bed for another 2!!
Today we shall head to a mall see what the prices of things are and if any english movies are playing. It's raining outside, so perfect for an indoor activity. Well no english movies, so shopped for a bit then headed back.
Ended up going for a walk around the area to check it out. We stopped at an open air strip of bars and decided to grab a couple beers, which turned out to be 5
Grabbed a bite to eat right across from the hotel then we were all pretty tired after that. Went to bed nice and early. Both Grace & Chris had a massage earlier, so they were pretty tired as well. Starting to catch a cold (Sherry & I) so grab a good nights rest.
Today we'll venture out to a long dock/pier and grab some seafood for dinner. Going to hit the casino today, maybe a bit this evening, then get ready for the early morning rise to head to Boracay tomorrow morning. Woohoo - it's beach time. If the sun peeks out today, we'll head out to Manila Bay and soak er up. That's it for now....next blog update will be in Boracay.
