São Paulo was my entry point and base for my three months of traveling around South America. I was there 5 times in all.

A city of contrasts:
Huge and chaotic. Modern glass facades and people pulling carts of their belongings behind them. Wealthy families living in secure apartments high above the homeless defecating in the streets. Cosmopolitan and rich in culture, coming alive late in the night.

Big thanks to Caio and Eduardo for their extremely kind hospitality.

Sightseeing in São Paulo

The Banespa building , São Paulo's Empire State. Giving extraordinary views over the expansive city, the 3rd biggest in the world.

Catedral da Se, in the centre of the city.

Mercado Contoreira/municipal, well known locally for the huge sandwiches that you can get in the food hall.

Avenida Paulista, the cosmopolitan heart of São Paulo. Musea de Arte de São Paulo and Parque do Ibirapuera.

Instituto Butantan reptile house

The Week nightclub, just massive... and with a pool.

Pinacoteca museum and the adjacent Parque Luz where you can find many prostitutes.
