Last week was a bit chilly, so when it finally warmed up on Monday I went for a run. Maria told me about a park just three blocks away. It is gated with intertwining paths made of gravel and sand with pretty fountains and plants. There were a lot of people all different ages there. Towards the back there is one playground for little kids, and another for older children. In the middle they have outside workout equipment. There are no attached weights; it just uses your body weight. There is about seven and I tried them all because I found it so weird. There is also a small man-made pond to one side with ducks! I'm guessing they live there year round, but who knows. I've decided to keep an eye on them this spring to see if they have little chicks! That night Julie and I went shopping at El Centro de Commercial Neptuno, a mall just a block away from our casa. Later that night we went to a bar called Hannigans's with Cole (from ISU) and Jackie. Afterwards we stopped by another bar called Paddy's. Paddy's is an Irish Pub and the owner (Paddy) is a really cool guy. He was telling us how he went to America for a bicycle trip and other places around the world. After a few drinks we headed home.
Tuesday afternoon was spent looking up plane tickets for our trip in two weeks to London and Dublin! I am going with Julie, Jackie, and a girl from ISU named Amy. After being at the school for so long we hit up happy hour at Paddy's from 6-8PM; I'm beginning to think Patty really likes us.
Wednesday night I went salsa dancing! Jackie is pretty much obsessed with it, so she knew a place close by called Chicago. We met some amigos there who taught us. One actually taught salsa lessons and the other two were his friends. I got the hang of it after a few songs because they were strong leaders. My favorite part is twirling, of course, which I got to do a lot of! We left that salsa bar after a while and checked out a different one called Salsa Mayor. I liked the first one better, but I heard they both get packed on the weekends. I'm thinking this salsa dancing is going to be a weekly thing! Maybe I'll have to get myself some real salsa shoes...

It's COLD here!
Hi Beanie - I'm so glad it sounds like you're having lots of fun. It's really cold here -5 degrees Saturday night. I was over at your house on Saturday afternoon - your Mom and I were looking at options for our trip. I took Elli over and she and Tana had a great time for about 4 hours. They wore themselves out. Are you finding your way around? We looked online at the Hotel Reina - that looks good, and hopefully its close to your casa. Have fun, can't wait to see you. Love, Brenda
you go girl!
Boy, you sure do have a rough life! I can't wait for you to show me this salsa dancing. How fun is that? Are you picking up any language while you are there, or only drinking and socializing skills? I wish I could be there with you! We miss you and I've been waiting for you to post pictures on this site. Georgia is going to sing a Dixie Chicks song for the talent show, so we are going to borrow your cowboy hat if that's ok. Don't worry, we'll tape it for you. Take care of yourself. Lots of love and hugs from the Wicker girls!
