This past weekend I experienced Europe's famous discos! Friday night Julie, Jackie, and I went to a bar called Tantra Bar around 11PM. We hung out there for a bit and ended up meeting a group of students from the University of Illinois. There are two universities in Granada and they attend the other one; I do not remember the name. At Tantra Bar a man was handing out free entrance flyers for Granada 10, one of Granada's newer discos. We decided to go and left the bar around 2AM because the disco does not open until then! The first thing we saw was a coat check, which I thought was pretty awesome! When you walked in you saw one main bar with couches outlining the walls, then you proceeded down 10 or 11 stairs to the dance floor where there were smaller bars on each side. In front there was a stage and the DJ booth. We made it onstage, but after a few songs a security guard made us get down. Whoops! Throughout the night I felt people touching my hair, or brushing my arm; nothing that made me feel unsafe, but it was just weird. Julie and Jackie are both blonds and I witnessed it happening to them too. Some women do have blonde hair here, but I'm almost positive it is died. Also, since we arrived so early in January I think we are the "first batch" of the American blondes here for the spring. We ended up closing the disco down and finally got to bed around 8AM. Of course I slept for the majority of the next day (Saturday) and that night Julie and I relaxed and watched The Devil Wears Prada. I was out within the first 10 minutes.

Good job Justine
Hey Bean, glad to hear to hear you are experiencing the Spanish night life and that you have adjusted so well to the late night hours (or should I say 'all night' hours):) Have fun, stay safe, Love you, Mom
