Hello. thought I'd take a quick break from doing nothing to let you know that I am in ko Tao, staying at  Haad Sai Daeng Beach on the south east of the island. There are only 2 resorts here, so about 50 people in total, so pretty much have beach to self. Staying in a gorgeous hut overlooking the sea, with a handy bar and restaurant a 1 minute walk away.
there just happens to be a luxury spa up the road so I am going there today and having an aloe vera wrap, facial, massage and something else which I have forgotten for the princely sum of 20 quid well seems rude not to make use of the facilities.
Went to visit the main town of the island, intending to stay all day, but lasted an hour and got a taxi back- was horrible. for some insane reaon they have built thousands of bungalows/ houses right along the strip of beach, effectively destroying the main reason people visit- there is no beach left- what sort of planning is that!?!! Legged it after I'd visited the ATM and post office back to the little beach I'm staying at. Spa was very nice by the way, unfortunately I had to walk back to my resort and after 10 minute had to go back and get help from the staff as 9 or 10 evil, growling dogs were blocking the road and looking at me in a menancing fashion- a few people from the spa came to help and walked back with me clapping and shouting loudly to frighten them away; apparantly they are more 'afraid of you than you are of them' but that's easy to say when there are 5 of you shouting at them, a bit different when you are in the middle of nowhere, on your own, surrounded by feral canines! So after that decided to stick to the beach and not venture into the islands wilderness as had been for the first 3 days, not that difficult actually, 2 restaurants, 2 bars and an on-site masseur to hand....
