Where I stayed
Baan Khun Phraa Guesthouse

Ayuthaya is the former capital of Thailand, once a huge city which was destroyed by the burmese in the 18th century, so plenty of ruins to wander around in in the heat. I stayed in a gorgeous teak guesthouse, Baan Khun Phraa with the worlds smallest single room- literally a mattress, a mosquito net and a fan, no room for anything else, but was only 300 bt so who cares, and there was a lovely little restaurant at the back overlooking the river. I spent the day visiting the ruins (will add photos later), and went on an evening boat trip around the canal where I met up with a couple of English girls, so we all went for dinner and cocktails. I ordered my first bloody mary and the waitress stood there for ages when she brought it over, watching me drink it in dibelief; 'you like that?' she asked and laughed her head off....did the same when I had the next one, guess not many people order them usually then.
Took the 3rd class train to Bangkok for 15 bt (about 30p) not bad for 1.5 hours, so now have tried all 3 options, must say seats on 3rd class not very comfy...
