Hi made it to Thailand ok, the 'Reflections' hotel is amazing with dolls, ducks and flowery suitcases all over the lobby and up the stairs. Each room has been created by a different local designer (check out the website and choose your fave room at http://www.reflections-thai.com/rooms.html), I am in the Haute Couture room (204); it has a big glass case with a mannequin and lots of silk, tell you more later, tired and going to bed.

Had a great couple of days, took a 'buddha tour' yesterday and went to 3 temples, the reclining buddha is huge- there are 102 signs carved into his feet, and as such you can place coins in 102 offerring bowls along the temple to get good luck- I did it of course, good luck for the temple too, as a great money raiser golden buddha, bangkok

! The tour unfortunately ended in a 'free' visit to a huge jewellry store, very professional and annoying with sales people following you continually trying to show you things, the guide himself wasn't up to much either though fortunately the exhibits were so good that they didn't need much of a narrative to accompany them. As such decided to make my own way to the grand palace today- much cheaper and faster than the tour yesterday anyway, thanks to the sky train (good air conditioning too) and the ferry service. Think have been lucky- not hassled anywhere much, quite enjoyed my weekend in Bangkok except...My south american companion turned up yesterday, so found a chemist and stocked up on anti biotics, thought would be good idea before I get on the train to chaing mai (thank god am going first class), seems I just cant handle food in developing countries no matter how delicious it is or careful I am- oh well....
