I have no pictures to add for newcastle as I only took a few and they're not very interesting. As I had the extra week I decided to head here as its close to the hunter valley and thought I would do a wine tasting. Wine tasting was good, some lovely whites and pretty scenery. Newcastle a bit odd though. I was sharing a room with 2 young girls from newcastle england who had been in the dorm for 10 weeks, in fact apart for 3 days in sydney it was the only place they had been to so far and they were about to run out of money. life in the hostel for them seemed to consist of going for a free meal at the local irish pub each night, cleaning the hostel for a few hours in the morning to get free board, straightening their hair and sleeping- bizarre! Another young girl from portsmouth joined the dorm on the second day, she was very nice and immediately asked me how old I was, when I told her she exclaimed 'that's amazing', obviously life expectancy in Portsmouth must be pi*s poor so I assured her that most people in south wales made it to 35 no problem! All in all a clear reminder as to why I really dont want to be surrounded by a gang of 18 year olds! Anyway I left newcastle slightly bemused and went back to Sydney.
