Hello, made it to Canberra and on time too!
Lana's husband Vince and her little boy Liam picked me up from the airport. We have just been on a night time drive around the city, I am going in tomorrow to investigate further and hopefully find a birthday present  for Harmon, the eldest, who turns 7 on Sunday. Canberra is tiny compared to Melbourne, but then I only have 2 days here so its just as well....also continue to be lucky with the weather it has dropped to the mid 20's here, having been in the late 30's for most of the week, just the right temperature for exploring.
So who gave my blog a rubbish rating then (I am down half a star you meanie!), and after all the hard work I put in, have downloaded loads of photo's today, I try to be funny and interesting, tell you about the history and stuff, moan moan moan....

Hmmm Canberra is  a bit low key for a capital city, fortunately staying with Lana and Vince meant I had good guides around the city and a birthday to occupy myself with. Visited the old and new parliament (new parliament much grander- good decision to build it!), and went to the national gallery and museum (both worth doing, some nice stuff in the art gallery in particular). Canberra has a shocking lack of signposts making it very difficult for someone 'directionally challenged' like myself to find my way around, it's really built for cars rather than pedestrians and local people seemed as clueless as me as to where anything was (I had to ask 5 people for directions to the art gallery one day  until I found someone who knew what I was referring to; it turned out to be a 10 minute walk away away) and public transport aint too good either , the one day I decided not to bother my hosts for a lift it took me over 2 hours on a bus to get back to their house from town; it's a tiny city for gods sake, I could have walked it quicker (almost). Having said that Canberra is the only capital I've ever been to where people  stop and chat to you everywhere you go and I got to see wild kangaroos in the park when taking Chief for a walk (Chief a bit too excited by the wildlife and I just about managed to hold on to him!). Harmon's birthday saw me and Lana chicken out of going go-carting (too fast!) sp we watched Vince take Harmon around instead, although we did manage to eat cake and go to the pictures ok.
SO yes, come to Canberra but 2 days should do it.
I leave for Sydney shortly.
