Hi all, so am in Christchurch staying with my couchsurfing host Lesley, the Lyttleton witch. Have had a good day, Lesley has acted as my tour guide, visiting the city centre and botanical gardens and a drive around the area including Lyttleton which was a good way to appreciate the spectacular scenery.
Lesley is an active bookcrosser, www.bookcrossing.com, which means that she randomly leaves books around for people to find and enjoy, with a request that they log onto the official web site and let her know what they thought of the book. We therefore left books at several places along the way including a coffee shop, on a statue in the botanical gardens, and at the top of the bridal path on our scenic drive, hilarious!!
Is really nice staying in someones house, all the home comforts and only a short walk to town. Lesley has been great, even picked me up from the train station and helped me to sort out my next set of bus trips and use her PC a lot to book stuff.
Last night I went to Christmas in the park, it seems the whole of Christchurch was there, as were a lot of performers from New Zealand idol, which meant nothing to me, but the crowd was pretty appreciative. It was a bit weird sitting in the sunshine listening to wannabe pop stars belt out Away in a manger....

Looks like you're havin an amazing time and I'm right jealous. Hope you have sorted place to stay over Xmas - Allan couldnt come up with anywhere through his contacts unfortunately.
Take care, have a great time, enjoy it to the full.
