Hello, well I made it to Lima, pickup taxi was waiting (name spelt correctly and everything). Interesting taxi journey to hotel last night,: Lima a city where everyone drives like my dad. Fortunately the taxi driver who spoke no English and me (minimal Spanish) invented a game called "name a European city and shout out famous landmarks or artists".It goes like this Him "Amsterdam" me "Van Gogh", him "tulips". Me ¨Florence" him " Michelangelo" me "Úffizi´", actually the Italian ones went on a bit as he had read up quite a bit on Italy!! The 45 minutes flew by, well took my mind off the imminent car death anyway, after a while I joined in the name calling with him, everyone except my taxi driver was a "loco", although it did seem as though he was cutting up people as much as anyone else to be honest.
Hotel ok, Ordered a taxi for 10am to take me to airport, it turned up at 9am, the mornings are less busy, so the journey not quite so dangerous,so am very early, currently sat in departures on my way to Quito.

Anyway, so far so good, get into Quito later today and Galapagos tomorrow. Not sure if I will be able to e-mail from hotel tonight so if you dont hear from me everything is fine and am in the Galapagos, will try and e-mail if get the opportunity along the way. Not sure what the IT situation will be though so may have to wait til I get back to Quito next week before I update. Will send postcards though!!

Glad you made it safely to south America and survived the wacky taxi races. Looking forward to seeing your photos of the Galapagos islands. Stay safe!

Hi Ju, dear me where do I begin on all the exciting stuff that is happening here in SP world Wales......blah, blah, blah...sigh, you are definitely having more fun! Sounds like your adventures have already begun BIG time & am sure Galapagos messenger birds fly faster than European ones. Will keep following your intrepid travels........ Elks
