I had been to KL previously, and stayed at the Radius so I knew that it was a reasonably priced, and good quality hotel. I was accompanied this time by partner Tony, and 2 teenage children (13 and 17). The first thing that hits you is the traffic and noise (compared to our home of Adelaide, which is really more of a big town than a city). The Radius is right in the heart of the shopping district (Bukit Bintang) and with the shops open until at least 10.00pm shopping was obviously going to be one of the evening attractions (especially for a 13 yo girl!). We warned the kids that McDonalds and KFC were definately off the menu and trying the local food was expected. Fortunately the breakfast provided by the hotel was very attractive and enough to keep us going for most of the day. We did try some of the small local food places which although looking a bit daggy to say the least, did provide some really great, cheap food.
We took an organised bus tour around the city to get ourselves oriented and learn a bit about the local culture. The guide spoke excellent English and was very well informed, especially about the local night clubs which he encouraged Tony to visit with him once he realised (although didn't quite understand) that we were not married.
