We followed the directions from the hostel and got to Prague at 7pm on Sunday. We caught the metro and emerged in Stephensonplatz .... The central square in the city. Seems they had dug up the metro line 1 so there were some vague notices to catch bus 66 or bus 68. But where? There were no direction signs, no one to ask, no clue. We walked about, with our packs on wanting to catch one of the busses. However, the square is a pedestrian area so there is NO transport (except for tourist horse and cart). We asked taxi drivers, police, pedestrians.........no one could help.
After walking for 20 min we stumbled on a tram line
We did find one station where the arrows were clear,y marked as to how to get to the 66 or 68 but THIS WAS ONLY AT ONE STATION. Apparently you have to know to get off at tis station???
Also they direct you to a place e.g. Karlsplatz. This is not a corner or simple intersection. It is a large area where a number of streets (unidentified) meet. (Larger than Taylor square in Sydney ). By the time I left Vienna I was ready to deck someone.
Vienna now makes my list of place i will not go back to. There are only two on the list .......heathrow airport and Vienna. I will NEVER return.
