Monday (Oct 15)

Last night I decided to give sleeping outside on the deck another try. It started off with about 5 of us and I surprisingly fell asleep very easily. I woke up about 3 in the morning however freezing cold so retreated to the warmth of my cabin.

That day we passed the sunken city of Kekova which I was really looking forward to as it was a ruined city beneath the ocean which sounded really cool. However it proved to be much of a let down as the city was underwater and you could not stop the boat to go swimming or snorkelling to view the city more closely.

After passing Kekova we came to our final stop for the day which was a cosy little bay not far away. It was only midday so we were given the option of going for a walk from the boat to the nearby village of Simena. It was a fantastic day and I didn't want to spend the whole day lazing about in he sun (even though that was a very tempting offer), so about 8 of us decided to make the walk.

The walk was quite interesting with lots of goats around as well as an encounter with two shepherd boys, one of which held a rather intimidating rifle. However they were only interested in shooting birds and not tourists so that was good news for us. I got our group lost on the walk so it took us about an extra 30 minutes... good going me. Once we got to the town of Simena unfortunately I was busting to find a toilet so I had to leave the group and commence Operation Toilet. You would think finding a toilet would be easy but it was a good 30 minutes before I finally found a friendly restaurant owner who let me use his toilet - thank goodness cos by that time I was blue in the face.

Anyway after I had successfully completed Operation Toilet I got in a few happy snaps of the town and made my way back by myself towards where we were initially dropped off as the sun was going down. The captain picked me up in a dingy and then visited one of his Turkish yacht friends on another boat. When I got on the boat I thought it had Amelie Mauresmo on it, until the woman who I thought was her began speaking to me in English with and Australian accent. I was disappointed it wasn't the most unattractive lesbian in the world who I was talking to, and I thought it was wise I didn't tell her she looked like Amelie Mauresmo either.

I got back to the boat eventually and apparently had all the rest of the boat freaking out that I had become lost and wouldn't be able to make it back - they were even talking about sending a search team!

Anyway as it was our last night we had the option of heading to a nearby bar (well more like a tin shed with seats) called the Smugglers Inn. I was up for it and eventually most the rest of the boat came to their senses and were also keen for it. Getting to the bar was an awesome experience, we caught a boat form our boat in the darkness of the night with only a spotlight the driver had to guide us.

At the Smugglers Inn a great night was had by all, and included much drinking (myself included) and much dancing (myself included again). We all caught the same boat taxi back to the our boat which was all the more awesome after a few drinks.
