Did I mention the bad experience we had on the 12 hour long train trip on our first visit? I promised myself that I would never do the train thing again Well, never say never, hey? We caught the train from Delhi to Jaipur today. Omigod ... LOVED it! We went first class - okay so the seats were a little worn but so spacious and comfy. Plus to Alan's delight, for 3 hours of the 4 1/2 hour journey - they FED us! The food and chai just kept coming, I was too full and so of course, Alan ate mine.
Jaipur is all that we remember and more. Ai-yah, having so much fun already. Firstly, the hotel is just gorgeous. It is a small boutique hotel run by a Punjabi family, has just delightful gardens with little nooks here and there ... Nadia for some reason when we were exploring I thought about when we worked at NDA and got invited to Liz's house on Wray Ave .. do you remember how you told me you just love exploring places that have that magical feel? This place feels like that. I literally squealed with delight when shown our room.
Lunch was at Om Tower Revolving Restaurant. The view was bril and the food ... so far the best we've had on this trip. The Paneer Tikka Masala was killing! We had the Rajastani Thali as well and just about everything on it was beautiful - I could not believe how full I was after that! Alan sibok (sticky beak) went a floor below to check out the mechanism.
We decided to walk off the calories by walking to the Old City and wandered around the bazaars - Alan was highly amused that almost every single shop person spoke to me in Hindi straight off. I simply wagged my head and walked on!
For those of you who are wondering if I've bought anything so far - the answer is 'DUH!'
On the way back we decided after walking about 8km - we'd catch an auto rickshaw. Hmmmm ... our friend was stoned! ahahahahahahahah. He had 3 grains of rice in his hair - his windscreen was cracked in several places and he kept lighting a joint of some sort. But it didn't alter his driving, he was as dreadful as all the rest! Then nicely, he had the cheek to ask if tomorrow he could take us sightseeing! ahahahahahahah
Okay really tired now ... time to have a soak in the bath. Love you guys!
