What a start to our day! Last night VJ phoned after we had settled into the room to find out if we had managed to locate a place for supper. He even wanted to make us a toasted cheese sandwich! Oh what a talker he was. This morning we arose nice and early to get away early so as to make our way to Grand Teton. Packed and ready to go at 7.20 we went to say cheerio to VJ. Well, we got invited to have Long Island coffee - which we have to admit was rather nice - but he wouldn't stop chatting! We eventually tore ourselves away shortly after 9.00! Then, because we take a pikkie of every hotel we stay at, we had to drive the car a little down the street and take the pikkie - with us in the shot - with a zoom lens so that VJ didn't come rushing out to continue chatting. You should have seen us jump into the car and take off before he could see us! It wasn't that we didn't enjoy his chat. He was actually a really nice fella, but when one is on holiday and needing to get somewhere....
Well, we have some addresses of some people he wants us to get in touch with in Australia and he was sure to take our address so that if he comes to Oz one day he wants to look us up. Actually, we would enjoy it coz he was quite a character.
So, finally on our way, about 15 minutes or so out of town, the low tire pressure light comes on on the dash. Back we go into town dreading that VJ might see us. Would you believe, we travelled from garage to garage, looking for an air pressure thingy. Two of them you had to PAY for the air pressure - not a problem if the thing worked! Finally we located one and at last we were once again on our way - about 45 minutes later!
Early in the afternoon we arrived in Jackson Hole with the snow coming down quite heavily. We decided to stay there instead of pushing on. Glad we did too because we secured a really nice little cabin on the river. Very spacious, comfy and with a fireplace in the room. Most delightful.
This evening we went for a drive into Grand Teton looking for Elk since it is the rutting season. Eventually found them though it was too dark to actually take any pikkies. Heck it was cold though. No way were we properly dressed for these conditions. We were at the point wishing we had our beanies when we remembered we actually had our suitcases in the boot. Stupids! So, looking very much like the Jamaican Bobsled team when they arrived in Canada, we pulled the suitcases out and grabbed as many clothes as we could put on, including the beanies! Had a bear come our way, I think he would have run in the opposite direction coz we would have looked bigger than he was!
