This was not really a good day for us. It started off bad. We were about to head out when I couldn't find my wallet. Everyone was hunting everywhere including in the car. All three had checked every location until Jacq suggests, did I leave it on top of the car when we stopped for coffee in Cedar City after the show last night. Remembering that it was a Maverick petrol station where we stopped, Jacq goes to make a phone call (she is the one with the phone card since mine is in my wallet!) but comes back with a negative. I am about to go and phone the Sheriff to see if anyone has handed it in when Jacq discovers the wallet in the car! Would you believe. None of us looked in the centre console! What a start to the day.

Next, we had to make a decision whether to go on a hike, drive Scenic Byway 12, or go to Lake Powell and do some boating/jet skiing. Our decision was influenced by having heard that Scenic Byway 12 was one of the most scenic routes in the country. So we decided to opt for a drive on Byway 12 as far as Grand Staircase Escalante where we would then do a hike.

What a disappointment. If this road is the most scenic in the country, we are in for some terrible disappointments. We kept waiting for something to take our breath away. Jude then discovers that there are some Anasazi ruins that she and Jacq would like to see so we head on over there. Another disappointment! What a waste of time. Ended up just having lunch in the park and then heading out on a hike to Half Creek falls - 5 mile round trip. Strangely enough Jacq said she enjoyed the hike but again we were a little disappointed. We did feel that the day was a bit of a washout. A pity since this is the last day before Jacq we have to take Jacq back to Vegas to return home.
