Our week with Jacq begins
Entry 10 of 41 | show all | print this entry |
Our first task of the day - to find Jacq some work clothes at the outlet centre. She had indicated beforehand that she wanted to pick up a skirt or two. Hah! One or two! Not likely. If I remember correctly she ended up with about SEVEN and about the same number of tops AND a pair of shoes! Well, I guess with the kind of prices available in the outlet centre, one has to take advantage when one can.
We finally got away from Vegas round about lunch time but still had to stop along the way for groceries for the week. The car looked like the local delivery van with the boot fully laden with suitcases and groceries and then as well, the back seat had to be used for groceries as well. And of course, we were headed for Utah and Utah being a non alcohol State, we needed to ensure we had the necessities in that department!
The cabin we are booked in is excellent. We have everything we need and as well, total privacy from the main house. There is also another cabin - as well as the main house - and in that cabin there are three bedrooms which are let out on a bed and breakfast basis. We are glad however that we have the cabin to ourselves so we can let our hair down and do our own thing.
Getting here however was an amazing trip. We came through Zion National Park. There are no words actually to describe the beauty that we saw on this road trip. I think actually there are not enough adjectives available in the English language. It is too amazing. We are all totally looking forward to doing some hiking and one of the trails - Angel's Landing - awaits us. Everything we have heard about this hike is enough to scare the absolute wits out of us. Also, with both Jude and Jacq afraid of heights ...! We are planning though on doing that hike on the last day we are in the park - Friday. We had planned on doing the Virgin Narrows tomorrow morning however when we called into the outfitters to pick up wet water hiking gear, we were told they were expecting rain and therefore flash floods. Not a good idea to go hiking through a canyon when flash floods are expected. So, we shall make another plan for tomorrow.
