We don't think we shall ever be able to complain about the heat in Oz ever again! Today we did Death Valley and we can see why they call it that. The temperature was 53 degrees in the shade! When you got out of the car you could literally feel all the energy being sapped right out of you. The last time we had anything close to this was in Karajeni in Western Australia in December and even then, that did not even compare to what this was like. Wow it was hot! Again though, what an amazing place to visit. Standing several hundred feet below sea level seemed really weird but we were treated to a landscape with a multitude of changing colours. We heard this story about the owner of a lodge that is in the valley who noticed one day birds literally dropping out of the sky. He put a wet towel on his head to go and have a look at the temperature on his patio and in the short time he stepped outside, the towel was dry when he came back inside. The temperature was 59 hence the birds could not handle the heat! Pal, you can have it!
