Left Medicine Hat after doing a whistle stop tour of a few highlights, including the worlds tallest teepee - great spot actually. Started making our way down to Montana the one good thing about coming back into the USA is that the roads are better, but really the prairies of Canada and USA would have to be the most boring , boring, boring place on earth. Maybe its different if you live here, but I am telling you, unless you are into grass and cows there is nothing to see, and I mean nothing! Stopped by the cops today for speeding! LOL. Fortunately though, no ticket and an honest mistake. We had just crossed the State line from Montana to North Dakota - Montana speed is 70, but North Dakota is 60 on two lane undivided roads. Well, neither of us noticed the speed limit sign as we came into North Dakota and our cruise control was set of course. The funniest thing though, this really nice hunk of a good looking cop - now THAT was not funny - it was yummy - swaggers up to the car and he is trying to be serious as he asks us for the driver's license but he is swatting mosquitoes like they are going out of fashion. His hands can't stop moving as he is swatting and waving them things away from himself! There was a CLOUD of them buzzing around him! Poor guy. I was doing everything not to laugh but I had visions of this guy - "spread your arms on the car, buddy - swat swat swat - go ahead, make - swat swat - my day! Swat swat!!!!! He was really nice too! No power trip or anything - just lets us know about the change in speed limit and tells us to slow down and be careful. LOL. Gave us a hurry up though! Came into town of Williston - and once again, no room at the inn - the town has been booked solid for the last two years by oil companies. Apparently North Dakota is experiencing an oil boom. A receptionist in one hotel made a call and found us a room in a B&B 40 miles outside of town - at least it was on the road that we would have been traveling out on in the morning. At one point we had to change drivers - Jude refused to get out of the car with all those mozzies buzzing around - it really was like being in a swarm of them - so she slid over while I had to get out! Some friend! We blinked and therefore missed the town that the B&B was in - the town was only about 30 metres of road and our instructions had been to look for the tallest building in the town actually an old school house which was last used in 1976! Very nice place. Couldn't send Anne & Lizzie a birthday greeting as no phone or internet coverage in this place - Arnegard!
