It's my birthday and we didn't manage to find ourselves a parade. Jude seems to think that the parades would be easier to find on the west coast. This morning we went to Tweedies Diner, which is the diner used in the film Twin Peaks, we will have to get the movie out to see if we recognize anything. Breakfast was a hoot - Jude ordered a stack of pancakes, however the waitnress advised that a short stack would be sufficient - oh my goodness - she couldn't even finish the short stack and it was only two pancakes - Chalire experienced a similar fate! So much for healthy eating on one's birthday! After breakfast we made our way to Snoqualamire Falls - it really was like a miniature version (not that we have seen them yet) of Niagara Falls. The power of the water was awesome and in fact they have two turbirnes under the waterfall to generate electiricy for the local area. We go drenched from the spray of the falls so went into the resort located at the falls to dry ourselves off. Saw an idea for our garden - amazing what you find in gift shops overhere! After the falls we started making our way over to Spokane - we traveled on the interstate and the facilities at the rest stops along the way were simply amazing. Chated to some very nice fellows on Harleys - couldn't get them to take us with them - bummer! We made our way through to Coeur d'Alene were we had planned on spending the night - they have firewords on the lake, so we thought it would be a great way to spend the birthdays girls birthday! However when we got there there was no room in the inn! Big down great motels, but apparently the whole distict moves in for the fireworks. We continued our journey and ended up staying in Sandpoint which had fireworks and would you believe, hundreds and hundreds of people turned out for my birthday party! It was so nice of them all to come! The 4th July fireworks was held on the beach and it was really quite nice. Not a New Years' eve on the harbour of course but given that it was a small town, one couldn't complain at all. They went on and on and the spirit was fabulous. At least Charlie got fireworks for her birthday!
