Overnight at Roseburg in Oregon. A real push up the west coast so we were exhausted last night resulting in an absolutely dead to the world sleep. Nevertheless, up early and gone, pushing for Mt St Helens which we made in relatively good time. But you know what? This is supposed to be summer! Hah - it's pretty cool! We have had to don our fleeces. Thank goodness we actually brought them!

Mt St Helens was very interesting indeed. An active volcano, they are expecting it will blow again. They are not talking in terms of IF but rather WHEN. It stopped smoking a few months ago but it still causes seismic activity practically every day.

Now we did notice on the way up from San Fran there was a strange noise coming from the rear of the car. We thought it came from the dif area and as well, the brakes didn't give us much confidence so we decided on reaching Seattle to change the car. No problem from Alamo. We pulled into the airport, swopped vehicles for another one - same model, a Chevy Impala - only considerably newer - only 6,000 miles on the clock. So glad that we did too. A real nice car. Because we had to change the car, that really decided us on where to stay. We had planned on staying close to Gig Harbor where we need to be for our visit in the morning, but as it turned out, we thought we may as well stay around the airport area since we were there already. As well, we noticed the pile up - bumper to bumper - of traffic on the interstate we would be going out to Gig Harbor on. Forget it - absolutely nightmarish! Besides, the thought of getting in early and chilling in the hotel was way too attractive!
