Where I stayed
We were staying in the beautifully historic district of San Telmo and, armed with our bible courtesy of Chunky, we knew all the best restaurants to hit. Luckily we timed it well and arrived in time for the Sunday antiques market. We grabbed an orange juice from a street vendor (Chunk, you are right, it is the best in the world!) then headed to the market which was full of all kinds of weird and wonderful things. There were different coloured glass bottles shining in the sun, baby dolls missing limbs or even a head, old posters and signs and a collection of keys in all different shapes and sizes. We had a great time making up stories for the items and where they might have come from
We wandered the streets all day, puppy watching in the parks and checking out the hundreds of stalls that seemed to line the streets towards the centre. Along the way we discovered the smallest house in the city, crammed in between two others in a near impossible fashion. We had a great first day but an even better first night when we got to try the famous steak. We needed one plate just for the meat and it was cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. We thought we had died and gone to heaven. I think we may have even got a little meat drunk as there were some random rants about the travesty of vegetarianism. Don't worry veggies, it was just the meat talking, we love you really.
The next day was a bit of a city walking tour followed by a visit to the crazy cemetry, La Recoleta. It really is like a city within a city and was pretty spooky! We done the necessary visit to Evita's grave and then explored the rest of the creepy yet intriguing place, some of the graves were really beautiful.
We appeased our inner movie fans by catching a showing of Avatar 3D, which was thankfully in English and well worth it. The 3D was awesome and the popcorn was better than the american stuff that we had. Well fed, we left BA vowing to return, well we have our flight on the 21st April. Next up Puerto Madryn.
