Though the water was quite calm, the fibreglass hull of the little launcha sounded like it was going to crack apart at any moment dispersing us all into the Caribbean Sea.

Fortunately, upon reeaching Punta Gorda, the name of the bus company inspired great confidence for my transport to Palancia!

The guidebook describes Punta Gorda as being so laid back, that the people can't even be bothered calling the town by its full name, PG does the job.

2 hours up the road, and 15 minutes up the river is the southern caye town of Palancia. There's only 2 streets here, and one of them is a footpath! But there's more than a few bars around, and just my luck to pick one to be invaded by loud-mouthed yanks! So I went back with them to their new yacht which they were delivering (they call it a job!) to indulge in the local One Barril rum!

Despite a beautiful peaceful beach, the morning rain encouraged me to move on.
