We did, however, manage some good tacos, quesidias, tequila (another t-shirt!), and learned a new cocktail! We also made it to Pacific Beach, La Jolla, toured the WWII aircraft carrier, more cocktails at Hotel del Coronado
Played my first baseball game since year 5 - invitation came at the most stereotypical 'american bar' you could imagine (yes, more neon lighting inside than out). So I stopped drinking and tightened my shoelaces only to be told on arrival that our friends team had enough players. So I grabbed another beer. The team wasn't doing so well, so at the last inning they figured only a miracle would save them and they handed me a bat. Despite smashing the first pitch and a magnificent slide toward 1st base that tore both jeans and flesh, we lost 27-2.
Our host, Erica & bf took the coast road to LAX to drop Tracey off; a nice drive, but it was the food and coffee that was most appreciated after the previous night on the town and back at Erica's. The Meditation garden was also very beautiful.
On the last leg of his round-the-world tour, my cousin Darren met me in LA for a beer at the Saddle Ranch in Hollywood. I didn't ride the bull this time (refer 2004), but did get an insight as to why they have this mechanical icon consuming so much valuable real estate when we saw the ladies giddyonup!
After a stroll along Venice beach on the way back to SD, Darren & I met my friend Randy (Philippines & China) at Dicks Last resort. Following a rack of ribs and a few pints we all, along with a chick from Colorado, headed for the border!
