Back into the madness of China, but Macau (a Special Autonomous Zone similar to Hong Kong) is quite a unique blend of hassle-free, clean, tacky (& snazzy) casinos, Portuguese architecture, language and food, with a Hong Kong fashion style!
The blend of Portuguese in the language provides many flash-backs of Brazil and also means that I have at least half a chance of knowing where I am and what I'm eating. But giving a destination to the Chinese-only speaking cabbies remains an ongoing ordeal. I wandered the streets, an old forte, the Lisboa Casino (tacky) and had Macanese chicken with a CROWNE LAGER!!! Spent Sunday afternoon strolling the sleepy (read boring as hell) village on Taipa Island, which the highlight was having a pork chop bun amongst the 5000 other people chewing down the surprising tasty snack. Topped it off with a seafood dinner at the 338m Macau Tower - great food & view!
Unless your hitting the baccarat tables, 2 days is enough here. More thumbnails ...
