What I did
As most of you know, my last month 2 month in a half in Ecuador went pretty much undocumented...Due to inconsistent wi-fi & general lazyness on my behalf...So, as i prepare to return on February 21st (got back stateside January 11th) on a 1 year visa, i figured i best get ya'll up to speed on my last adventure from Montanita (southern part of coast, beyond Manta) up to Canoa....Well as i said, the 1st leg of my trip landed me in Montanita, a rousing, hippie, expat, vacationer, surfer town, which at the time, had about 10,000 Argentinians & other's from countries all over...Needless to say, it was one large party, scantily clad youth's & drunk oldies reliving their day's gone by vacariously through anyone who would play with them...It was all good (minus an issue with one of our travel mates---scandilous MF'R)....But after shedding that issue, i ran into my buddy Sushi (from Belgium) that i had met, grown close to, & spent countless hour's laughing our butts off in Canoa...What a suprise to be walking down the street (err,,ahh,,dirt road) in Montanita and hear someone screaming your name..."JJJJJAAAAAAAASSSSSSOOOONNNN" ehehehe...We stayed 1 more night then caught a bus the next day for our trek north up the coast back to Canoa....Prior to arrival in Canoa, Sushi had to get cash so we got off the bus in San Vincente (there are no bank's in Canoa)...Instead of reboarding the bus or catching a cab, we elected to hire a motorcycle taxi which is 1 step up from a rick-shaw, however the driver had it decked out with a banging sound system so, even at about 15 mile's per hour, we travelled in style....45 minutes later we arrived in Canoa & were dropped off....I only had about 3 day's to stay in Canoa before i had to return to Quito & fly back to the state's....This take's us to my final day, Saturday,,,Sometime in the morning (booze hazes exact details) Sushi & I took our buddys Stacy & Mike into San Vincente then took the water taxi over to Bahia...It was primarily a learning expedition as Stacy & Mike were unaware of the best modus-operandi to get to bank's & Bahia...Once back in San Vincente the real fun begins, while walking along the main road, I located a store that sold child floatation device's & Sushi & I armed ourselve's for the evening's festivities...We caught a ride back to Canoa in the back of some truck for a poultry $6, which allowed us to drink Budweiser along the way & do our best "Teen Wolf" surfing impersonations in the back of the truck....Once back in Canoa, it became clear to all observers, that the mood was set for an epic final day/night in Canoa for Jason...All the usual spot's were patronized (Surf Shack, Goldfish, ect..ect) local's were harrassed (or perhap's entertained) & a lasting mark was left....(to include some interestig shaving)...Needless to say, the night went long, goodbye's were said, friendships confirmed & strengthened (as can only happen when you share a blow out as descibed)....I awoke, head banging, throat dry, at 5:45 a.m. to begin my journey back to Quito...Arriving around 2pm, set to fly out at 3 or 4 a.m..back to the states....I have been planning, obsessing, & coordinating my return since the day i set foot back on U.S. soil....I didnt last long, actually just over a month, as i will return on February 21st, armed with a 1 year visa....I believe i will conitnue this blog & just add to it, counting my month & a couple week's back as a temporary return...Love to all & ttys....
