! Next came the zip-line's, thank god, gravity handled 99% of the work or we may have had to skip them...Noooooooottttttttttttt!!!!!! Can you say 13 different zip's, across incredible spanse's, with the coolest guide's, all for $10??? Really $10! To finish out our trip, we stopped back in town for some cocktail's & dinner, with some of the other Gringo's in our group, at, could you believe, an Italian joint? That's right, Italian, & it was awesome!!!! Pizza & Gnochi (misspelling that) all fired in a brick oven & prepared by a little, cute, Ecuadorian woman, & completely authentic! Whaaaaat? Well that's, that, for this trip,,,I've also included some picture's of Jody's excursion to the Quito Zoo (i, err, ahh, didnt attend as i was predisposed....hehehehehe) Actually I was hung-over from my #1 LSU TIGER victory (9-6) celebration over (at the time) #2 Alabama Crimson Tide....Also included some pic's of our authentic Ecuadorian dinner (including guinea pig - or as it looked - road kill) very tasty & if you can believe it, there is a bar-rest right down the street from the hostal called "The Dirty Sanchez"!!!!! hehehehehehehe Love to all & ttys
Nahnue Nahnue.....Greetings Earthlings from the land before time....Well it's been a bit since my last post but not for the lack of things to post, rather lack of time to post them....My dear friend Jodi (hehehehe that's for you Jod) Jody, left bright & early this morning to return to NOLA, apparently some of us have to work for a living!!! I can say will all honesty, that, although i am exhausted from all we did in her short stay, I would give anything to have her here for more time....To share this experience, these people, this culture, this incredible land with someone you truly love, respect & cherish has, and will continue to be, the highlight of my trip....I only wish, more of you could be here to see & do, what we are & have been so fortunate to see & do.....Picture's, as they say, are worth a thousand words, but what happens when you are left nearly speechless on a daily basis? Whether it be the amazing generosity, friendly demeanor, and precious smiles of the locals here or the breath taking views, species, and available fruits & veggies,,, it seems as tho neither words nor pictures can fully define Ecuador....This latest trip was about 2 hours north & west of Quito to the town of Mindo....A tourist destination, yes, however, not grossly over built or over ran....Nature's bounties were only equaled by fantastic workers that assisted & insured our day was both fun & safe...Chaperoned by our guide "Journeyman Jack" journeymanjack.com in his hybrid space-jurassic park mobile we forged our way higher & higher & deeper & deeper into the cloud forest, across stream's & bridges that looked both uncrossable & unable to support our weight, arriving finally at our destination & beginning our adventure....1st we were loaded into a open faced cable car of sorts and across the expanse we went (perhaps 700 - 1000 feet between us and the canyon floor---maybe more) we hiked approx 6 km up down & around, over suspended bridge's, arriving at a beautiful waterfall, with an inviting pool at its bottom, just begging for us to jump in and soak our weary bodies...(we didnt but we should have) as each of our seriously reconsidered the wisdom of our hike shortly there after....(not sure if its the starving for oxygen or our obvious lack of physical preparedness) but it kicked all our butt's!!!
