Where I stayed
Well to start off...All is O.K. & thank's so much for the thought's & prayer's...In actuality it was essentially a non-event for us here in Quito, tho the internet connection & the inundation of the phone lines made it impossible to update as quickly as i would have liked....So here's the scoop boy's & girl's....This morning, approximately 80-100 miles south & east of Quito, Ecuador a magnitude 6.9 - 7.1 earthquake hit along the Nazca Plate at a depth of 118 mile's below grade...The eppi-center was in a sparsely populated region East of Guayaquill West of the Zona Reservada Pucacuro, East of Tena, Palora & Archidona about 85 miles East of Ambato, 90 miles N/E of Riobamba & 100 miles S/W of Nueva Loja....That all being said, the tremors we experienced here in Quito were relatively mild, although strong enough to rouse me from my slumber and initially scare the shit out of me!!!! hehehe (those that know me well & my sleep issue's will understand that completely and know that i am not a good person to wake in a f&*$d up manner)...As soon as i was able to gain my wit's, or shortly there after, I heard the proprietor of the Hotel yelling "EARTHQUAKE"!!!!!! That alone is an scary prospect, as we are completely surrounded by mountains that have been hacked and chipped away by the local rock companies to produce cement & building materials....Some of them look as though they are 1 good quake from coming down...I'm sure this is solely my uneducated observation and is completely unsubstantiated by any official mathmatical probability, tho the prospect is horrifying....Instead of starting at the top of some of these mountains (or resource's as they obviously consider them) they start digging away at the bottom & work their way 1/2 up then quit....Uuhhhhh toppsy terrvy anyone...We all know what happens when you have alot of weight, held up by a very little base....I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin!!!! heheehehe....The long & short of this minor debacle is that all is fine & well & it was another wonderful day to be in Ecuador....Love to all & ttys
