Well the flight from London to Halifax was shorter than I expected, at only 6 hours. I had a stroke of luck when I landed, as there was an irish lady called Lorraine hanging around the transport counter looking for people to share a taxi into town, as the next shuttle bus was 30 mins away. Luckily we were heading to the same hostel, and before long she had recruited a couple to share the taxi with us. We actually ended up in a limo was the same same cost as a regular taxi, and there was more room. (Way to pull up to the hostel!)
We decided to head into town for dinner later in the evening, and after some aimless wandering aound we ended up in an "english pub"(shameful i know!), which looked more like a canadian bar, complete with widescreen tv's everywhere showing baseball and American football. We ordered the $5 burger platter each, which seemed good value. However, I'd forgotten what the portion sizes are like over here, and this turned out to literally enough for two people, 2 burgers and a massive portion of chips. The best part of the meal was yet to come- as we were waiting for the waitress to bring our change, I spotted a massive rat running around, feasting on the nutshells that were scattered all over floor (I'm guessing they were to add ambience). We pretty much got out of there asap and then headed back to the hostel to crash.
