Another early start. It might sound repetitious but again the weather was great and an excellent ride today. We were in no rush today as we decided to book a motel room as we had to be up early the next day and at the ferry for 6:30 a.m..
John arranged for us to go on an Alcan Aluminum Smelter tour in a place called Kitimat. It was actually quite interesting, and were glad we had an opportunity to do this. We also took a side tour off the main highway to visit an Indian museum. This was a mistake as it was like a ghost town and quite scary. The museum was just inside this subdivision and it was all boarded up. We could see smoke coming out of the chimneys and kids bikes and toys everywhere like a normal subdivision, but there wasn't a soul around. You would expect to see someone, especially with two bikers riding around. We got out of there quickly and didn't look back.
We arrived in Prince Rupert around 5:00 p.m. and stayed at the Totem Pole Motel. This was a very nice place and only about 5 Km from the ferry we were to catch the next day. The lady at the desk recommended a good place to have a seafood dinner (Boulets), and even made reservations for us. It was really good as we had two types of salmon and a piece of halibut. We pigged out again. Bob very generously picked up the tab as a way of saying thank you for all the work John had put into organizing this trip. A very nice gesture ! John wanted to go on a walking tour along the dock area so we probably walked five miles. We took some pictures and got some needed exercise.
