The ride to Jaipur was fairly uneventful, but I think everyone was happy by the time it was over. It was fairly hot at midday on a crowded bus with no A/C.

Settled into the hotel, a nice clean place and not too noisy, even though Jaipur is a big city of about 4 million. In the afternoon we did a bit of a walking tour. I saw the Hawa Mahal, India's second most photographed building. Then ventured through the old town and markets, with a stop at LMB, Jaipur's famous sweet and snack shop. Indian sweets are very good by the way. And sweet. Very sweet. After that, we walked to the City Palace, and then to Raj Mandir cinema to see what was playing for the next day. That was it for the first day in Jaipur.

The next day I was up early and grabbed a tuk-tuk out to the Amber Palace and Amber Fort. The Fort is to far away to walk from the Palace, but the Palace itself was amazing and I spent about two hours exploring it. I got the same tuk-tuk back, and he even let me drive for a minute. Illegal most definitely. Stopped again at LMB for lunchtime samosas and milk balls in a saffron cream sauce. Yum.

Then back to the hotel where I took it easy for the rest of the day.

I should also mention that in Jaipur I tried McDonald's for the first and last time in this country. Wasn't very good but I did have to try it!
