To get from Krabi to Lanta was fairly painless, about 3 hours in an A/C minivan, including two drive-on ferries. We knew it was going to be quiet here and quite secluded and it certainly was. The first night we got here we stayed at a place neither of us really liked. The water stopped working for most of the day, so we made arrangements at a new place for the next night. But we still managed to make use of our first night in Lanta. It was March 15th when we arrived, which also marked the night of the black moon for March, so of course being in Thailand, there was a beach party. C and I enjoyed sitting around overlooking the beach, drinking out of the famous buckets. Just a tub full of alcohol basically, with 4 straws. There was some hilarious Muay Thai demonstrations, featuring beach fighting between kids, but it was all peaceful and fun. There were some fireworks and fire dancers as well, and lots of good music on the beach until 2 am. It was a nice night. Some cows also wandered right by the front door of our bungalow when we were sitting by the pool.

The next day we hiked north up the road to the our new place which was much nicer for the same price. It took about 20 minutes and we counted 19 tuk-tuks or taxis that tried to give us a ride by excessively honking. After we settled in, we got right down to relaxing. It is too hot to do much of anything during the days here, but we have enjoyed some amazing sunsets when it cools down, we have done a lot of reading, and C even found some yoga sessions. Today we rented a scooter and spent an hour and a half exploring the island and we will do some more exploring tonight. The scooter is a fun and cheap way to get around and it is safe since the roads here are not busy and full of crazy drivers! We did manage to run out of gas once, but fixed the problem within about 2 minutes as their are little stands all over the place selling old coke bottles full of gasoilne for 1 dollar a bottle. We've also managed to find a fun MiniGolf place which was a good time, especially the nearly impossible 12th hole which took us over 100 shots combined to complete.

We have a resident cat that we named Marcus Aurelius and he wanders into our room every night looking for attention also.

Off now to go and get some food and then enjoy another sunset lounging on the beach!

Probably heading to Ko Samui or back to Krabi for a quick stop-off in the next few days.

Take care everyone!
