For the most part this week was studying, but I did a few cool things. On Thursday we stayed after class to listen to one of the speakers NYU brings to campus every few weeks. This week they brought Jim Messina, who ran Obama's campaign both in 2008 and this year, and was the former White House chief of staff. Needless to say, it was pretty cool to hear him talk. We got all sorts of insider white house info, which is very privileged information so I can't share it... But he also said that early on in the campaign they thought John Huntsman was a real threat, which I said about two years ago. So really the difference between me and the White House chief of staff is very small...
Friday consisted of a lot of shopping, which made me very sad to leave the world of the best shoes ever
Sunday I was supposed to study. The apartments don't have heat in the afternoon though, so I didn't do that. Instead I went and finally saw the Synagogue here in Florence, which is a five minute walk from my apartment! It's called the oriental synagogue, mostly because it's surrounded by palm trees and is super colorful. They have a museum upstairs, with a lot of the history of the ghetto in Florence. The synagogue itself was huge, and every wall was covered in a really bright pattern. On the outside the dome is bright blue, so you can see it from every tower, and I wanted to go there for some time. I finally did it just in time to leave!
Thank you all so much for reading about my adventures this semester! I can't wait to see all of you, and hopefully if you ever come visit Italy now you know what to do! (And what not to do). Ciao!!
