One of the perks of my job is that get to travel quite a bit. And a really fun trip was LA. I was there for about a month. The down side was that work was very demanding. 12 hour days, everyday! But I was able to take one weekend off and I flew Kelly out.
We stayed the Courtyard in Sherman Oaks. (in case you haven't noticed, I very brand loyal to Marriott ;) the points I earn throught work pay for most of our vacations!) It was a really nice hotel. In walking distance (walkway under "the 405") is an outside mall. Lots of places to eat. Also right down the road was the Vally Inn Restaurant which high priced, but very good.
The first day we did the "Hollywood" thing. Walked the stars and looked at the foot prints. The cops were on the prowl for Chewbacca...I kid you, not! Appearntly two Chewbaccas showed up that day (people dress up as movie stars and take money for getting your picture taken with them). Anyway the Chewbaccas got in a turf argument and it turned into a fist fight! I would have given anything to see that! But all we saw was the police running around asking people "Have you see a Chewbacca around here?" The second day we drove up the ( i think the locals call it the Pacific Coast Highway) up to a beach that came very highly recomended...and boy was it! Zuma beach is pretty far up the road but it's worth the drive. Just look at the pictures.
On the way back we stopped off and went out on the Santa Montica Pier. There is a Tex/Mex restaurant at the end of the pier. Good food and great atmosphere. More thumbnails ...
