Justin: "Ummm shit, well you see I have to get to London to see a Footb..... Ahh I mean a wedding. See I have been invited to a wedding and need to get their tonight!"
Cust Service: Sorry sir, there is nothing we can do.
Justin to Travel Insurance: "Hi, I have an emergency, I have had my flight cancelled to London and I need to get there for a wedding tomorrow. Very important wedding! What can I do?
Travel Insurance: "Well in this case, you can purchase another ticket (cheap) and get there for the wedding or funeral. It is defiantly a wedding Mr Cormack?"
Justin: Ummm yes!
So as you can see the whole AFL Grand Final has turned me into a bad person - I cannot believe people rip off the system like that.... I really do feel bad and might have to go to church and have a confession with a priest... or maybe not..
But what has been done has been done. The best thing is that Jezz (mate that I am living with) has a friend of a friend who is actually getting married the same day - so now I have a name and church to put on my form. All this to see a bunch of guys in short shorts, kicking a ball up and down the field for 2 hours....
The last 24 hours have been crazy, from arriving into UK late, and getting to Jezz's place and trying to get some washing on and wear new clothes instead of what is in my pack and get some decent western food into me! So at about midnight we crash out and get a whole 3 hours sleep before the alarm goes off to tell us it is time to watch the Grand Final, with about a billion other Australians living in London.
So onto a bus in the chilli morning and arrive just in time to find a nice spot to stand, get a couple of pints (5:20am) and watch Collingwood win the Final - ok we all know the result but I like to think positively. The pub even had pies and bacon & egg sandwiches going around which made it a very weird way to watch football - no BBQ or kicking the footy at half time.
I have to admit it is a funny feeling, yelling at a big screen TV to a game that is a million miles away and think that yelling louder will make the player do something differently than he is going to do! With the result made (great game) and now a pub full of very pissed people - dancing on the bar at 9:30am seemed to a popular choice with a few people.... It was home for a fry up and couple of hours sleep and then back out again for more drinking with more Aussies, NZ and Sth Africans.
All in all a great day for football and a grander introduction to the UK, defiantly worth spending the dollars for a separate flight. I just hope now that I can claim my insurance form in and get the cash back...
