After arriving in Copenhagen we rented a car and picked up Abby's large suitcase that we had stored at our hotel there. From to Copenhagen to Lund, Sweden is less than 45 minutes over their very new and smooth bridge. We dropped her off because she needed to go through a check-in process and we took our things to a hotel.

Lund is a very old-fashioned and quaint looking town with an old, cobble-stone street section. It has lots of places to eat and shop since there are many students in town because of the university.

Abby is one of about 50 students from the various schools in the University of California system who will be studying at Lund University this fall. She is housed in an on campus apartment. In her unit there are six students with single bedrooms, they each have their own bathroom and share a couple of showers and a common kitchen and living room. Her bedroom is huge, far larger than the triple bedrooms she's had the last two years in San Diego.

They did not put the UC kids together so initially it proved hard for them to communicate since they were in various stages of establishing internet connections. There was one other student in her suite area, a Swedish guy named Love (pronounced Luv). But, for the most part the UC students are there three weeks earlier than the Swedish students. During this period they are taking an intensive language and culture class. Lund has a large international student population, which is one of the things that attracted her to the school, along with their strong science department.
