Well, I felt it appropriate to conclude our last hours in the states with a plate of true American fare. So what else would you choose in the terminal maze of Atlanta-Hartsfield International than pizza and donuts? Both went down very nicely.

I enjoyed this meal because I imagine tomorrow's supper will certainly bring a new viewpoint on the world in general. Will it be haggas (did I even spell that right)? or lamb? Fish and chips? Nah, that will be London. Who knows, but it should be interesting.

Vivian and I arrived in Atlanta a little before 7 ET tonight on a very uneventful flight from GTR (many seats open on the plane, actually, which was a bit of a surprise). After exploring the A (Dunkin Donuts headquarters), B and T terminals, we finally found and settled on a pizza joint - Famiglia The Last Supper
The Last Supper
.

Literally as we were sitting down at the spot I had scouted for powering my laptop at Gate T6, Vivian's second-oldest nephew, J.T. (hailing from Athens, Ga. and currently attending Wake Forest) was passing by and we flagged him down. All the while, her youngest brother, William, and his crew (wife Janet, son Ryan, daughter Anna) had just landed from Jackson, Miss. (they are from Starkville, but had to take the dog to the "grandparents" down there) at D terminal and were on there way to T as well. They arrived soon after J.T.

We all just finished chowing down and are now awaiting our 10:10 flight to Shannon. In roughly eight hours and forty minutes, we will be on the ground in Ireland - we're pretty pumped.

Well, it's about time for us to head down to Gate T4, where out flight actually originates. Seriously, who actually hangs out at the gate they are departing from anyhow? That's like going to the uncool side at Sonic.

Talk to you all next from somewhere in Ireland. Could be a couple of days before I find internet connectivity again, so hang in there. Talk to you then from "across the pond".

UPDATE (9:50 p.m. ET): Well, we are already delayed. Apparently we are now boarding @ 10:40 because they are "repairing the mid-lavatory" on our plane. They SAY we will still arrive in Shannon on time ("making up the time in the air", of course).

Also, it looks as if we have a youth orchestra travelling with us. They seem nice enough, but they also seem, shall we say "energized". Could be a long flight if they don't simmer down as the night wears on. :)

Haggis
It's 'haggis', with an 'i', goofball, and it's traditionally a Scottish dish, not Irish.

Remember the 'Die Hard' air travel tip; walk around in your bare feet and make fists with your toes.

If you get anywhere near both a kilt and a camera at the same time, beware. I will hear about it and see it. I have connections.

Food
Nice diet! The food just gets worse as you go east. Be forewarned!

Food
Wow...mexican the night before and pizza and doughnuts on the road. I think I am glad I am not on that plane. The choir would be the least of my worries. Travel safely and have fun.
