Morning Guys
Well I am currently stood in Singapore airport awaiting our departing flight to Hong Kong , well you have to abuse the free internet .
When we last mailed we were about to go diving on the Great Barrier Reef . We had a great going to three different dive sites and would recommend it to anyone coming to this side of the world as a must do, the coral was just amazing.
We then flew to Ayers Rock , me worrying the whole time that I was about to die from all the nitrogen bubbles floating around in our blood as we weren't meant to be flying that close to diving , but what the hell we didn't go that deep and we lived to tell the tale.
Ayers Rock, now that was an adventure, budget trips are not for the faint of heart . Firstly a 2 hour drive into the middle of know where, and I mean the middle of know, then kicked out of the bus and told to wait for another coming the other way. One hour later, with vultures circling, a white van appeared from the dust and rescued us and we continued for another 3 hours into the bush...right laugh. The next 2 nights were spent camping , in the pitch black with dingos for company. I opted for the tent but Andy opted for his swag ! ( a bag inside a bag for those not in the know !- see picture .. ) All in all the trip was fantastic taking in the Valley of the Kings, the Olgas and Ayers Rock and once again we met some great people with the odd weirdo thrown in for amusement value ...
After that we headed to Perth, and was lucky to get there after first being told our flight was cancelled , then after boarding the plane being told to get off due to technical difficulties - not being able to keep the engine running is always a problem, then just as we thought we were on our way we got diverted to Alice Springs , only 45 mins in the wrong direction . Finally touched down and headed to our apartment right on the harbour . Whilst we all thought Perth was quite a nice place the highlight was probably our wine tour - by this point in our trip we are dab hands at getting free drink without feeling compelled to buy , those feelings have long gone . We even like to tuck into the cheese and biscuits and chocolate tastings if they are being thrown in . Singapore has been great , really enjoyed ourselves. It is great for me due to it being really hot although the sun has not shone that much , the other three are just melting . Highlights have been Singapore Slings at Raffles , Juronge Bird Park , The Singapore Flyer ( Bigger version of the London Eye ) and some cracking cable car journeys over to Sentosa Island.
Well that is where we are for now and will try and update you again before we disappear into the back of beyond in China - who knows what that will bring....
