Sunday, January 21 Hokitika to Fox Glacier
Rain, Rain Go Away! Another rainy day greets us as we drive south towards the glacier area on the west side of the island. We're told that this is the rainy part of the island. There are actual rain forests here. By mid-afternoon we arrive at the Franz Josef Glacier, but the clouds are so low that we can not even see the glacier. This town is quite a tourist area and shopping is about the only thing to do in this rainy weather. About an hour down the road we reach our destination, the Ivory Towers at Fox Glacier and go to bed dreaming of the sunshine. More thumbnails ...
