Highlights of the day!

Slickrock Creek Trail.  This trail was highly recommended to us at the Cheoah Ranger District Forest Service Visitor Center.  It is a really long trail, but we only did the  portion that took us to the first cascade.   The trail is in rough condition - note the name of the trail!  It badly needs trail maintenance, but if you go slowly and carefully, you will be rewarded with a pristine idyllic swimming spot!   Maybe it was the hot humid weather and that we really didn't realize how far we would have to hike before reaching the first cascade, but by the time we got there we took off our boots, and waded in the cool crystal clear water and totally absorbed the beauty of this spot.  We hung out on the boulders, had lunch to the sounds of the cascades, swam in the stream and generally had a fantastic time.  We could not believe that we did not see anyone else the entire day!  Maybe because we were there on a Monday?  We don’t know, but it was an absolutely perfect day!
