Day 23:  Buenos Aires to Miami on Christmas Day
Thursday, December 25th

We wake up leisurely and enjoy our breakfast in our apartment.   We have a late flight to Miami tonight.  We have reserved the apartment for tonight as well, so that we do not have to be concerned with check-out times and can rest as we wish. The Art Suites has arranged for a remise pickup to the international airport at 8 P.M.  We are not sure what we are going to do today, but we know there is one thing we have to do and that is pay our bill here at the Art Suites!

We go to the office to pay our bill and meet a couple who have just arrived in Buenos Aires.  They are from Australia and have been traveling in South America for several months.  The highlight of their trip has been their cruise to Antarctica and the Georgia and Falkland Islands.  They kindly write down the name of the boat and tour company of the cruise.  I know that I want to see penguins and other wildlife and the fantastic scenery of the Antarctic, but I was under the impression that we could do this trip when we are much older.  This couple said that not to put it off because there are balance issues of getting on and off the ship that would make it much more difficult later in life - they are glad that they went now and they appear to be roughly our same age.  Okay, food for thought!

Usually, we have at least one trip planned beyond the one we are on.  But not this time.  Harvey and I are both unsure of where we want to go and when.  We are not sure if we want to do touring, a combination of city and nature as on this trip, or an extended stay of maybe a month at one location (and what location would that be?).  After our time in Rio Hermoso, we might consider finding a like kind boutique luxury lodge in another beautiful location and stay there for an extended time.  There is a certain pleasure of experiencing a place over time, rather than just a day or several days.  And being in a beautiful location makes our hearts sing!  Maybe it's time to research beautiful natural locations!  We need time to process this experience in Argentina and reflect on what we think we might like to do before planning our next trip.  Times and needs change, so perhaps our style of travel will as well.  We'll see!

We walk the streets of Recoleta and make our way towards Palermo.  It's sunny and hot and there is a surprising amount of traffic on the streets.  We wonder why we are walking on the streets with all this noise and decide to go back to our apartment.  It's now about 3 PM and we are getting hungry. Sergio had told us that Celetto, a very good Italian restaurant, would be open today, but we did not know what time. We walk a few blocks from our apartment to Celetto and are pleasantly surprised that they are serving lunch!  For our last meal in Argentina, we order rib eye steaks, fries, salad and a bottle of wine!

We toast the people of Argentina, their beautiful country, and the opportunity we have had to be here together to explore, discover and rejuvenate!   We thank all the advisors on TripAdvisor.com that helped plan this trip!  We thank Anna from Wild Patagonia for her assistance in planning the Lake District portion!  MUCHAS GRACIAS ARGENTINA!
